Most cleaners shampoo the surface. We pre-treat the soil, agitate the fibre, then pull it all out with a hot water extractor — which is why the traffic lanes stay gone instead of wicking back in a week. Area rugs get the same treatment, on the same visit.

Corner guards on doorways, equipment set up, pre-spray dwells while furniture is moved.
Overlapping dry passes pull the moisture back out, which is what keeps drying to 4–6 hours.

Your rugs get the same clean as your carpet.
A rug is carpet that happens to be loose, so it gets the same process: pre-inspection, a fibre test, pre-treatment on the traffic lanes and spots, then hot water extraction that pulls the soil and the moisture back out. Wool, synthetic and blended rugs all clean this way, in your home, on the same visit as the carpet.
There is one exception, and we would rather tell you now than at the door. Hand-knotted, silk and antique rugs are built with natural dyes that can bleed and a foundation that distorts if it is worked too hard. Those get dye-tested first and hand-washed at a gentler pace instead. If you are not sure which kind you own, send a photo with your quote and we will tell you before anyone drives out.
